Azure DevOps Lead

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Azure DevOps Lead to join a global transformation consultancy to play a pivotal role in delivering scalable, secure, and highly automated cloud platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to lead DevOps practices across cutting-edge Azure environments, working at the intersection of cloud engineering, automation, and modern application delivery.
The role offers hands-on technical ownership alongside strategic influence, partnering closely with development, QA, and operations teams to drive reliability, performance, and continuous improvement across the Azure estate.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to accelerate development and deployment
- Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to provision secure, scalable, and highly available Azure infrastructure
- Automate operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, and operations teams to enable seamless deployments and rapid issue resolution
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise platforms and applications for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Embed best practices for security, resilience, and compliance across cloud environments
- Contribute to system architecture and provide guidance on infrastructure and automation standards
- Stay current with emerging DevOps and cloud technologies, recommending and implementing innovative solutions
Experience Required:
- Proven experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or similar roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Proficiency in scripting and coding languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Extensive experience with Azure cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, and security.
- Demonstrated success designing and optimising CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure automation and orchestration.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Azure Monitor, Grafana, or Prometheus.
- Proactive problem-solver able to work independently and take ownership.
- Strong communication skills, comfortable collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.
Desirable Experience:
- Exposure to containerisation and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience across additional cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
- Familiarity with configuration management and security tooling (e.g. Snyk, SonarQube, Qualys)
- Understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks
