My client is seeking an experienced Senior Employment Counsel to join the legal function of a leading professional services organisation on an interim basis.

The Opportunity

Working as part of a specialist employment law team, you will provide pragmatic, responsive, and commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across the organisation. You will manage your own caseload while partnering closely with senior legal colleagues, HR teams, and wider risk functions to support key strategic initiatives and manage employment-related risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day employment law advice across all areas of the business.
  • Manage a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Support senior legal leadership on key employment law projects and reporting requirements.
  • Advise on complex employment law issues including:
    • Employment contracts and contractual arrangements
    • TUPE transfers
    • Organisational restructures and business change programmes
    • Employee relations matters
    • Grievances and disciplinary issues
    • Whistleblowing concerns
    • Equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives
    • Compensation and benefits matters
    • Restrictive covenants and post-termination restrictions
    • Terminations and settlement agreements
  • Provide legal support in relation to ACAS matters and Employment Tribunal claims.
  • Partner closely with HR, Risk and senior business stakeholders.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate employment law risks across the organisation.
  • Support the delivery of major people-related projects and initiatives.

About You

  • A UK qualified Employment Lawyer with ideally 8+ years' PQE.
  • Experienced in providing employment law advice within an in-house environment.
  • Skilled in handling both advisory and contentious employment matters.
  • Commercially focused with excellent judgement and strong attention to detail.
  • A confident communicator with exceptional stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to build trusted relationships quickly across all levels of an organisation.
  • Experienced in managing sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working across multiple business functions.
  • An excellent drafter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptable, proactive and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
