Data Protection Officer

  • £40,000 - £50,000 per annum

Reporting to the Head of Info Sec the DPO is responsible for overseeing data compliance, data privacy, and GDPR obligations. The DPO will act as primary contact for supervisory authorities, including the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and data subjects and offer independent advice for the senior leadership team.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  • Expert knowledge of data protection legislation, in particular the GDPR, and a good understanding of other major privacy frameworks and evolving legislation
  • In depth knowledge and experience of information technology and data management systems
  • Experience in managing data incidents and breaches
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity risks and information security standards
  • Ability to make good judgements regarding data privacy risks and to prioritise resources and activity around managing those risks
  • Detail-orientated approach needed to recommend and implement strategic improvements on a range of data privacy and data protection issues
  • Certified EU GDPR Practitioner qualification

Additional recognised privacy qualifications e.g. CIPP, ISEB, C-DPO (desirable)
