Solutions Architect

The Solution Architect will orchestrate end-to-end solutions for businesses by collaborating with various technical teams, owning high-level solution designs, ensuring standards compliance, and contributing to architecture governance. They will possess a broad technological understanding, adept communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the ability to translate business challenges into effective technical designs, all while being directly involved in service delivery and strategic decision-making processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the high-level Solution design of technical solutions that either span multiple products or are complex
  • Liaise with Technical experts within the product teams to ensure all designs meet necessary standards
  • Contribute towards Architecture governance and decision-making forums
  • Assist in developing standards and best practices for Product teams to follow based on lessons learned
  • Provide advice for the resolution of high-priority support Cases where multiple products are involved
  • Have a good understanding of a broad range of technologies, including Amazon Services, Java App Development, Web services, Data Platforms and Integrations
  • Can converse easily with and translate between non-technical stakeholders and technical practitioners.
  • Can switch between different problems and responsibilities and be directly involved in service delivery.

This is not an exhaustive list, and the post holder might be expected to undertake any other duties across the wider directorate, commensurate with the level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrable understanding or the concepts and application of of TOGAF or other similar architecture or delivery framework.
  • Experience as a Solution Architect or as the primary technical decision-maker or advisor in a technical role.
  • Experience representing technology to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in Agile software development and working in SCRUM teams.
  • Demonstrable development experience directly coding with a common development language.
  • Demonstrable experience of operating and supporting technology at scale.

Desirable Skills:

 

  • TOGAF or other Architecture Certifications or Training.
  • Experience with dev-ops tools (JIRA, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket).
  • Experience with SAFe Agile or other Agile frameworks.
  • Hands-on development experience with java, javascript or python.
  • Hands-on data experience with SQL and analysis tools and usage
  • Hands-on web application or mobile app design and development framework experience.
  • Hands-on network and DevOps experience of AWS.
  • Experience of working in regulated environment or environments where complex governance frameworks are required (financial or government grants/loans/funding industries)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
  • 5+ years' of relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge of leading architecture solutions within financial grants/loans/funding industries
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to demonstrate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
