Job Description:
As a Third Line Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the IT infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities will involve providing technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of the systems. You will work closely with the IT team to develop and implement robust solutions and collaborate with other departments to understand their requirements and deliver efficient IT services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide third line support for our Windows and Linux (Ubuntu and/or RedHat) environments, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
- Administer and maintain Unix/Linux systems using Ansible, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Proficiently work with shell/BASH scripting for automation and task automation.
- Develop and maintain scripts in Python/Perl to enhance system functionality and automate repetitive tasks.
- Manage configuration management tools such as Puppet/Chef for effective deployment and maintenance.
- Oversee and troubleshoot issues related to Active Directory and OpenLDAP.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their IT requirements and provide technical guidance.
- Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning to optimize system efficiency.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, actively participating in professional development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Third Line Support Engineer or similar role.
- Strong expertise in Windows and Linux (Ubuntu and/or RedHat) systems administration.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux systems management using Ansible.
- Excellent scripting skills in shell/BASH for automation purposes.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or Perl for system automation and customisation.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef.
- Solid understanding of Active Directory and OpenLDAP.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Proactive approach to learning new technologies and staying updated with industry trends.
