Security Operations Engineer

  • Based in Cambridge (remote working possible)
  • £60,000 per annum

Security Engineer required for our client are a globally renowned life science organisation. They are looking for an experienced Security Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. You will be joining a team focused on building platforms to understand investigate genome research, pathogens and infectious diseases.

The successful candidate hired will be driving Security operations within a core platform team. You will be expected to take accountability for driving the implementation of cyber security. You will be responsible for cyber security monitoring, patching and updates across cloud infrastructure, providing hand on security related task.

Day to day the individual hired will work closely with Data, Engineering, DevOps and Product to drive Security. You will own and build the Security roadmap within this core business unit.

Skills required:

  • CISSP certification or similar
  • Exposure or understanding of ISO standards
  • Experience in reporting on security risks as well as measures that can and will be implemented to mitigate them.
  • Experience of working with software developers, QA testers, data engineers and DevOps engineers in a technical environment to drive improvements in security posture.
  • Experience of Cloud based technologies and management (AWS, Google, Open Stack).
  • Ability to assess, implement and use security tools to improve the security posture of the organisation.
  • Experience of managing security layers that support web applications and websites.
  • Good understanding of network protocols, IPv4 addressing and subnetting, routing etc.
