Lead Product Designer

Synapri are partnered with a leading internet security firm in order to help them recruit a Lead Product Designer in London.

Salary: Up to £95,000

Main job responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Create, execute, and own an overall UX strategy that aligns with the goals of other teams and the business at large, and includes tool selection, workflow design, and team management.
  • Manage a team of designers, guiding and coaching them toward best practice methods for meeting design deliverables.
  • Work close with the CX team to optimize the product discovery aspect of UX Design.
  • Work with researchers, business analysts, architects, and product owners to develop product requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of customer-centred metrics and make these metrics the centre of your focus.
  • Use, develop, and document our emerging interaction design model to design clear and consistent workflows.
  • Use, develop, and document our modular design system to deliver high-quality design assets and interactive prototypes at scale.
  • Work closely with researchers to validate your design decisions with users.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including but not limited to information security and acceptable use, and for undertaking mandatory in-house company training as required
  • Undertake other job responsibilities and accountabilities within the remit of the job role as and when these may arise.
  • Invest in staff as to provide an excellent employee ‘line-management’ experience.
  • Take ownership of and full responsibility for the management, development, and wellbeing at work of your team.

Person specification

Essential

  • Extensive relevant and robust experience as a design leader in the field of UX Design.
  • Intermediate or expert Figma skills, to meet the interaction design and prototyping requirements of a fast-paced Agile development team.
  • A versatile design skillset that includes deep experience in one or more disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of design and research tools.
  • A working knowledge of the React/Bootstrap frameworks and general familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • A portfolio or other such record of the best value you have provided to companies through your design.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Able to understand complex technical problems and design simple solutions.
  • Confident, personable, and excited about interacting with users.

You have a clear experience-based understanding of:

  • How to manage and grow a team of design professionals.
  • The challenges of collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders distributed across a large organization.
  • How modern product discovery methods, as applied in Agile software development environments, should drive product requirements.
  • How best-practice-driven teams make user-centered metrics the center of their focus.
  • The many and various disciplines within User Experience Design and their applications.
  • The specific practices around validating design decisions by engaging directly with users.
  • How to overcome the challenges of establishing a user-centered design practice in an enterprise or B2B setting.
