DevOps Engineer

DevOps Engineers required for a world leading research institute. They are looking for someone to join a growing platform team responsible for the delivery of new digital products.

This role will be joining the cloud operations team to ensure the continued availability of their cloud platforms through the use of best practices and automation. The successful candidate will closely with the security teams to ensure that systems are secure against cybersecurity threat whilst ensuring that there is enough capacity to support existing and new services. The DevOps team work very closely with the development and infrastructure teams to deliver tooling across their share services.

You will be expected to contribute to the ongoing adoption of Ops automation best practices, developing ideas for new features and reinforcing reliability by monitoring industry developments and trends. Due to continued growth the organisation are looking to hire both mid-level and senior level engineers.


Key skills:

  • Experience of DevOps and Agile principles 
  • Professional knowledge of popular ‘infrastructure as code’ technologies e.g. Terraform, Packer, Nomad, Kubernetes 
  • Extensive Linux (Ubuntu) system administration skills 
  • Extensive experience of Cloud based technologies and management (Open Stack, AWS, Google) 
  • Knowledge and experience with modern software development practices, including version control, continuous integration and workflow management tools such as Jira, Gitlab, etc. 
  • Experience of operational cybersecurity principles and associated solutions 
  • Familiarity with SQL and databases 
  • Experience of Gitlab CI/CD, Gitlab Runner configuration and containerization (e.g. Docker, Singularity) 
  • Management and configuration of Apache Web Server as well as Tomcat Application Server 

The organisation operates a hybrid remote role based in Cambridge.
